FX Crate is a subscription box dedicated to providing top quality special effects and cosmetic products to makeup artists, filmmakers, cosplayers, and more. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, we’re here to help you get the look you want. And we’ll deliver it right to your door all at an easy, affordable price. Every FX Crate contains hand-selected items such as Kryolan makeup, Prosthetic Applications, Bdellium Tools, Theatrical Blood Products, Tinsley Transfers, and more.

That depends on the Crate you choose. The base FX Crate is a monthly subscription mailer that gives you makeup, tools, and supplies. It’s a great way to experiment with new products and replenish your makeup kits.

The Creature Series is a monthly box based around a particular theme, which changes every quarter (3 months). And every box of this series is designed to build off each other.

For example: if the theme is vampires, we will include foundational products like prosthetics, foundation (base makeup), adhesives and removers in your first box. The next box might include things like paints and brushes. And the last box will have finishing touches like bloods, paint, fine point brushes, and teeth.

Each month you’ll receive high quality items like Kryolan Brushes, Bdellium Tools, Prosthetic Applications from Woochie, Theatrical Blood Products, Tinsley 3D transfers, various pro paints, and much more.

In our Creature Series, we include tutorial cards, riddles, and other fun interactive items. We want to not only teach our customers how to create characters but we want FX Crate to be an interactive experience as well.

Our standard price starts at $50 plus shipping and handling for the “FX Crate” mailer.

Our Creature Series box starts at $65. Shipping rates are determined on your location and by USPS. So it can range anywhere from $7 to $25 depending on where you are. If you are from the United States it’s usually anywhere between $7-$10. International orders can run up to $25 or more for shipping. Lastly, there is also sales tax for your state as well as any taxes or tariffs that customs may require.

For the subscription, we bill all of our customers on the 1st of every month. If you come in after the 1st of the month you will be charged that day and then the 1st of the month after. It's important to note that our cutoff date for orders is the 16th of the month. If you order after the 16th, you will be charged that day but won’t receive your first box or mailer until the following month.

The absolute last day you can put in an order to receive your box or mailer the same month is the 16th of the month. We have packages in the mail on the 17th. You can expect to see your box within 10-14 days depending on your location. We are in Massachusetts so if you live in California or another country it may take a little longer.

Currently we only ship to the United States and Canada. We ship our packages via USPS so we will ship where they allow. Please check to see if your location is accessible to USPS before placing your order.

Cancelling is easy. Simply login into your Cratejoy account and do the following: Under “Your Subscriptions” on the left side, click “edit”, on the next page at the top you will see “Edit Your Subscription”, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Cancel Subscription”. Once you click that you will be prompted to give us feedback which is optional but encouraged. Then hit “Yes, Please cancel” and you’re all set! You will receive a cancellation confirmation to the email you signed up with.

We can refund your order as long as all the products are intact and unopened/undamaged. But you will be responsible for the return shipping costs. Once we receive your returned box and inspect it. We will issue you a refund.

Yes, we do have one-off crates on our web store as well as other items. For gifts, simply signup through our portal, choose your product and label it as a gift!

Yes, you can skip a month by simply logging into your account and doing the following: Under “Your Subscriptions” on the left side, click “edit”, on the next page at the top you will see “Edit Your Subscription” and just under that it will say “Skip Next Renewal”. You will be prompted and asked to confirm your next renewal date. Click, “Yes, Skip It” and you’re all set!

Yes, you can upgrade by logging into your account and doing the following. Under “Your Subscriptions” on the left side, click “edit”, on the next page at the top you will see “Edit Your Subscription”, scroll down to “Choose A New Product” and click which product you’d like to upgrade to. Then choose your frequency and click confirm.
